Open Records Policy

In accordance with the Open Records Act KRS 61.870, a written request addressed to the Board office is necessary to receive a copy of complaints and/or legal documents by mail or to schedule an in-office review of documents. Kentucky law mandates that the agency respond within three (3) business days to a request for documents. The agency may charge 10 cents a page plus actual postage.

Some documents are exempt by law from open record requests, such as personal information such as birth date, social security number, home telephone number, and patient records.

There is no law requiring that a state agency notify a licensee when a member of the public makes an Open Records request for documents that is available in the file of that licensee.

Impaired Physical Therapy Practitioners Committee

The Kentucky Board of Physical Therapy established a committee to promote the early identification, intervention, treatment and rehabilitation of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants who may be impaired by reason of illness, alcohol or drug abuse. The PACE program is designed to encourage impaired health professionals to seek a recovery program before their impairment harms a patient or damages their career through the disciplinary action.

Please take a minute to look at our PACE (PDF-107KB) brochure.

Also, volunteers are needed to be on the committee. If you have a special interest or have experience as a recovering alcoholic or helping a loved one, contact (502)749-8385. This is a cell phone that is answered confidentially by our PACE program administrator.
